Samsung Galaxy Note Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update On AT&T

An Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is becoming available for users of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note (SGH-1717).

The update is not surprising, given the popularity of Samsung's first phablet device and its large user base. The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update completely overhauls the new UI with its Nature UX Interface, which is the same found in the Samsung Galaxy S3 and S3 Mini. A number of new features are also brought over from the Galaxy Note 2.

Here are some of the new enhancements that come with the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Note:

- Android 4.1.2 (Build JZO54K)

- Project Butter (for increased overall performance)

- Multi-View (for multi windows multitasking)

- Option to turn off Multi-View

- Samsung's Cloud services,

- Smart Stay, Pop-up Play and Direct Call

- Customizable Notification Panel

- Page Buddy

- Smart Rotation (screen display adjusts to angle of sightings)

- Additions to Notification Panel

- New Notifications bar

- Two home screen modes

- New widgets (from the Galaxy S3)

- Continues Input in Samsung Keyboard (e.g. Android 4.2 Keyboard or Swipe)

- Google Now

The Samsung Galaxy Note can be updated either over the air (OTA) or via Samsung KIES. You can check @SamKiesUpdates for more info on firmware updates for your device.

An Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update also just started rolling out for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Verizon variant. The update includes bug fixes along with new features such as boosted support for Multi-Window View.
