Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Now Getting Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update

Verizon Wireless has finally started pushing out the much awaited Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for its variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The software update brings several improvements, bug fixes and new features, including enhanced support for Multi-Window View.

"Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a software update designed to improve the performance of your Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone," notes Verizon.

The over the air (OTA) update for the Galaxy Note 2 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is 250MB in size and would take some time to download and install.

The software update not only brings fixes but also several enhancements to the Galaxy Note 2.

The enhancements are:

- Multi-Window support can be used for more apps now. These include YouTube, Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon Kindle, Viewdini, Google Maps and Talk.

- Users can search or filter by Name in the dialer screen.

- Snooze option in the Alarm Clock app is set to "ON" by default.

- Alarm Clock options are now viewable without the need to press the "more" button.

- Addition of Notification Panel editing menu under Display Settings.

- Users can transfer content from their old smartphone easily with the Samsung Smart Switch app, which is now supported.

The software update also brings improvements to Wi-Fi connectivity, EAS email, ISIS mobile wallet, S Note app and more.

Verizon usually pushes out major updates in phases; however, since this is an incremental update, chances are that a majority of Galaxy Note 2 owners will get it quickly.

To see if your Samsung Galaxy Note has received the OTA update, go to Settings>About Device> Software Update> Check for Update.
