CyanogenMod is an aftermarket firmware for a number of smartphones based on the open-source Android operating system. CynogenMod offers features which are not found in the official Android-based firmwares of vendors of smartphones and now it's available to download for the latest Samsung Galaxy S4 T-Mobile (USA) and Canadian variants.

"I just finished the initial bringup of the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919). We'll port to other variants when we get the devices (including the I9505). The first nightlies will go off tonight. There are a few rough edges still, but will be ironed out in short order and you should be able to use it as your daily driver without serious issues," Steve Kondik, the lead developer for the Cyanogen project, said.

Kondik also adds "The touchscreen on this device should support Android's hover events. I'm looking forward to see what the community can come up with using this new feature!"

The T-Mobile (USA) and Canadian Galaxy S4 now has the CynogenMod available for download and it seems that the CynogenMod team will work swiftly towards making builds compatibile with the many other variants of the Galaxy S4. Kondik also notes that the International i9500 is next in line.

"For those of you unfamiliar with the term 'nightly,' perhaps a little background info is in order. The nightly builds are released every 24 hours, and as such, can often be a little rough around the edges. These "bleeding-edge" builds are aimed primarily at developers that wish to help the process of bringing CM 10.1 up to scratch, and if you're not familiar with the developmental side of CM, you may be better of skipping these nightlies until early stability issues have been seen to," per Redmondpie.
