2017 Subaru Impreza: Proving Itself Once More With ‘Top Safety Pick+’ Award

Subaru has already distinguished itself to be an automaker that gives highest priority in the aspects of quality and safety. This year, Subaru has proven itself once again as it earned another Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) with its 2017 Subaru Impreza. Subaru may be considered an underdog compared to many automakers in the industry in some ways but not when it comes to quality and safety.

2017 Subaru Impreza: Earning Another Top Safety Pick+ Award

According to The Car Connection, the Top Safety Pick + Award has been given to the 2017 Subaru Impreza after it was subjected through rigorous tests that the Impreza all passed with flying colors. The Top Safety Pick+ award is considered to be the highest honor given by the IIHS and therefore, this award is not easily given to any vehicle.

Before a vehicle can qualify for this award, it must first be able to get a Top Safety Pick rating. Getting the Top Safety Pick rating requires a vehicle to get a rating of "Good" in five crashworthiness tests. The crash tests involve a small front overlap, moderate front overlap, side impact, roof crush and rear impact.

In addition to passing the crashworthiness tests, only vehicles that have options for LED headlights and automatic emergency braking are qualified to be given the prestigious honor this year. Thanks to the 2017 Subaru Impreza's steering responsive LED headlights along with the LATCH hardware for child restraints installation, it was able to achieve the 2017 Top Safety Pick+ award.

2017 Subaru Impreza: Falling Short On The Lower Trims

According to report, not all the trims of the 2017 Subaru Impreza were able to gain the Top Safety Pick+ award. The base, Premium and Sport trim have halogen units that don't provide the kind of illumination that the LEDs of the Limited trim provides. That being said, the lower trims for the 2017 Subaru Impreza failed to qualify for the Top Safety Pick+ award.

2017 Subaru Impreza: Keeping Up The Streak

This is not the first time that Subaru was able to earn a Top Safety Pick+ award. In fact, Subaru has earned three of the abovementioned award late last year for its other models. The fact that the 2017 Subaru Impreza earning another Top Safety Pick+ this year is basically a statement that the automaker aims to deliver in its commitment of making the safest vehicles in the world.

Expecting More From Subaru

The 2017 Subaru Impreza is based on a new Global Platform that has been geared to perform better in terms of crash protection, ride quality, driving engagement and interior refinement. The new Global Platform combines this with the automaker's boxer engines and tested all-wheel drive (AWD) and EyeSight safety system to bring us the best quality vehicles from Subaru.

This means that we can expect for Subaru to continue to bring us great quality for its models in the following years. Subaru has already proven itself many times in this respect and the Top Safety Pick+ award for the 2017 Impreza simply shows that the automaker has a lot more to offer.
