macOS 10.13 Hinted In App Store URL

A new macOS is in the offing if a hint found on the Apple App Store is to be believed. The first possible sign that a new macOS 10.13 already exists or at least coming really soon comes via a catalog URL for the App Store.

Pike's Universum was the first to discover the possible clue of a macOS 10.13. The blogger who goes by Piker Alpha posted part of the App Store URL, also known as the Catalog URL, for developer seeds on March 7. The blogger posted a portion of the link on his or her website.

In full, the link read: "Apple Inc. swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.13seed.merged-1.sucatolog.gz". The most striking of the HTTP link is the part where it says "10.13 seed" which, of course, is highly indicative of a macOS 10.13 instead of a new macOS 11.

The blogger also said that the link is not a fake and is highly likely from Apple's servers noting that the HTTPS link starts with "Apple Inc.". The phrase is also in green, therefore, it is secure. PikerAlpha also gave the readers a heads up by saying that there is nothing to download yet so it is futile to ask for the full link.

A new macOS is expected to be announced at the WWDC 2017 which will be held from in San Jose, Calif. from June 5 to 9. It is not yet known what the next macOS will be called but Apple has already trademarked a list of names which include animals, deserts, mountains, and cities in Calif. such as Big Sur, Condor, Mammoth, Mojave, and Sequoia. Per Mac Rumors, Apple will likely roll out the macOS 10.13 to developers first before it is released to the public in October.

Apple also rolled out the fifth beta for macOS 10.12.4. Public beta testers will get a first taste of the macOS Sierra's newest features which include the Night Shift, which adjusts the display's color every evening. It also comes with dictation support for Shanghainese, and an updated PDFKit APIs.

If the next macOS is indeed the 10.13, it may find its way in the supposedly upcoming iMac. The 2017 iMac was initially rumored to be coming in the first quarter of this year but this may be pushed back after another set rumors say the much anticipated Apple desktop will now possibly come with AMD's latest high-end Ryzen processors instead of Intel's Kaby Lake CPUs.
