Lamborghini Egoista Concept Unveiled

Lamborghini is celebrating its 50th anniversary in style, revealing its new concept vehicle, the Lamborghini Egoista, at a party in Italy on Saturday May 11. The week-long celebration involved a drive-by of 350 Lamborghinis.

The Lamborghini Egoista can only fit one person and is appropriately named after the Spanish for "selfish." The vehicle draws its look from the Apache helicopter. According to reports, it is comprised mostly of carbon fiber and the cockpit canopy can be removed for weight reduction.

"I am very attached to this Italian brand, being an Italian myself. I wanted to pay homage to and think up a vehicle to underline the fact that Lamborghinis have always been made with passion, and with the heart more than the head," chief designer Walter De Silva said. "This is a car made for one person only, to allow them to have fun and express their personality to the maximum. It is designed purely for hyper-sophisticated people who want only the most extreme and special things in the world. It represents hedonism taken to the extreme, it is a car without compromises, in a word: egoista (or selfish)."

The power for the Lamborghini Egoista derives from a 5.2-liter V10 engine. The inside features a bare, minimalist cockpit. Few other details are provided other than some photos taken from those who attended the event. According to Lamborghini, the Lamborghini Egoista will never be built or sold by the company. Egoista, indeed.

Also as part of its 50th anniversary celebration, Lamborghini revealed the Lamborghini Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario Edition.
