Hearthstone News, Update: Blizzard Under Fire For Increasing Their Prices In Various Regions

Blizzard has recently raised the prices of Hearthstone  card packs in certain countries for certain economical reasons. However, fans are in an outrage and have been complaining at the company for their recent decision.

Hearthstone Packs Cost More In Certain Countries

According to PVP Live, prices of cards packs in the EU have risen in order to "align with local and regional market conditions." In line with this, players in the UK are actually spending 20 to 50 percent more of the original price while the EU prices have risen up to 11 percent. One main example is the 60 packs, which originally cost €62.99 but is now €69.99 or roughly around $75.

Similarly, Polygon reports that other areas like the African and Middle Eastern counters are also affected by the said price hike. Because of this, many fans have been expressing their disappointment on social media regarding the direction the game is doing. Despite Blizzard's official explanation behind the increase, netizens are still upset over the changes.

Players Upset Over Increased Prices

In line with this, one Redditor claimed that he is baffled over Blizzard believing that raising the prices of their products was a good idea. Furthermore, he even stated how it was odd for a "seasoned" company like Blizzard to adopt this method. On the other hand, other fans believe that this is the company's way of recouping the costs for shifting to three expansions every year.

In spite of the ongoing controversy, it is still possible to play the game without making any purchases. Instead, players will simply have to earn in-game gold to purchase cards. The ability to buy packs with real money is only an alternate solution to building a preferred deck.

Nonetheless, some players have already decided to stop playing the game altogether. Some have even suggested other trading card games like Magic The Gathering, Duelyst, Pokemon Trading Card Game Online and even the upcoming Gwent based on The Witcher series. For now, only time will tell if the recent changes will affect the current status of Hearthstone.
