Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Gets Bluetooth Certification After S4 Zoom

Samsung's upcoming waterproof and rugged version of the Galaxy S4, said to be released this summer, is getting its Bluetooth certification. The wait is almost over for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, which will surely challenge Sony's Xperia Z waterproof smartphone.

Samsung's new offering of the Galaxy S4 Active is reported to be waterproof and dustproof and a little bit smaller than the Galaxy S4, at 4.3 inches. We told you about this device last month when Samsung Gulf's Young Soo Kim dropped the info at a Galaxy S4 conference in Dubai.

New reports are that the Galaxy S4 Active, model SGH-i537 is about to receive Bluetooth certification from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). According to rumors, the Galaxy S4 Active will have a 16-megapixel camera with a 10X optical zoom. This information comes just as Sony announced yet another waterproof smartphone, the Xperia ZR, which is said to be submersible in water up to 5 feet.

As Underwired View reported the Galaxy S4 Zoom, which is also said to have a 4.3-inch screen and a 16-megapixel camera, showed up on the Bluetooth SIG earlier this month. Like the Galaxy Active S4 camera, it too features a 10X zoom lens. A recently leaked photograph of this rumored phone, model SM-C101 features detailed camera specs with photo processing done by Google's Snapseed.

It may seem odd that Samsung, having recently released the Galaxy S4, would release two additional smartphones consecutively, but not when it comes to comsumer satisfaction. Samsung bases its marketing strategy on meeting the demands of customers. So if people want waterproof devices or better built-in cameras, Samsung aims to deliver. No word on the release date of the S4 Zoom, but the S4 Active is rumored to have a release date sometime in June.
