The AMD Ryzen Doubles Up With These Tips For Optimal Performance

The AMD Ryzen is a CPU that targets the server, desktop, workstation, and media center PC markets. Its base models are comprised of eight cores and 16-thread processing at 3.4Ghz. As it is, the product has already been well received in the market, but a few extra tips will make it even better.

As Forbes has reported, AMD's Zen architecture gives even Intel's Broadwell-E and Kaby Lake silicon a run for its money. Evidently, when the CPU is tasked with multi-threaded and heavy-duty work, it is capable and delivers as expected. But while it is a great piece of technology, there are ways to enhance the experience it provides.

According to PC World, one particular way is to update the BIOS regularly. This is not normally done because it could brick hardware, but that just is not the case with the Ryzen. Instead or harming the motherboard, the CPU is made faster, more stable and increases features as well. However, the publication did advice to back up existing UEFI BIOS to a flash drive just to minimize risks.

Another way to get optimal performance is to overclock it. The publication has reported that the main difference between the US$500 Ryzen 7 1800 X, the US$400 Ryzen 7 1700X and US$330 Ryzen 7 1700 are the clock speeds. However, the processors work well even when overclocked. The only problem is that individuals will need a pretty strong CPU cooler to achieve the best results. Some PC adjustments will then need to be made.

And if the PC is still in its beginning stages, another way to optimize the AMD Ryzen's performance is to choose the right motherboard. All the chips slot into AMD's new AM4 motherboards, but these are built using different chipsets that will affect the overall capabilities of the computer. As such, it is important to choose the best motherboards based on compatibility.
