Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Speedrunner Beats World Record

The race is on for the fastest clearance of Zelda's Breath of the Wild expansion. In just over a couple of weeks, speedrunners have been contesting their way to finish the new title as fast as possible. The previous world record is under an hour (58 minutes and 1 second). But now, one speedrunner is about to contest that record and make it less than 50 minutes.

Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Best Speedrunner?

Exactly one week after its grand launching, Breath of the Wild speedrunner gymnast86 managed to complete the game in just under 58 minutes and 1 second. The user managed to complete this feat by making alternative routes and shortcut into the game. Moreover, gymnast86 run straight towards the final battle with Ganon. Since then, many speedrunners emulated and modified the method and are en route to breaking the world record. However, nothing comes close to one speedrunner named Venick.

Speedrunner Venick

Yesterday, Venick is on its way to break the world record when a tragedy befell upon him: technical crash. During the final boss fight, Venick is set to finish the game in well under 50 minutes when the game suddenly froze. He effectively forfeits the game as the issue basically nullified his aim. It was a heart-wrenching ordeal considering how close the streamer was into breaking the world record.

Road To World Record

Hours following the failed speedrun, Venick tried to break the world record again for the second time around. And on his stream, roughly 2:10 pm of the same day, Venick managed to complete the game in well under 50:17 minutes - a new world record for the fastest completion of Breath of the Wild expansion.

Despite the astonishing feat, tons of speedrunners have been finding a work around to speed up the process even more. Aside from the popular "whistle sprinting," it appears that some users have found some in-game bugs which basically hasten the completion of the game even further. Many guessed that it wouldn't take a while until the record will be broken by another user. Check back for more Zelda: Breath of the Wild news and updates!
