HTC One To Get Android 4.2.2. Jelly Bean Update In A Few Weeks

Samsung Galaxy S4's arch rival HTC One could soon be powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean as well.

The HTC One currently runs on the Android 4.1.2  version of Jelly Bean, but an "insider" has let on that the software update for the smartphone is round the corner, barely two to three weeks away.

The latest information is courtesy of well-known HTC leakster and developer @LlabTooFeR, who is usually clued in on in the roll out of HTC software updates. He has let on via a reply to a Twitter post that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the HTC One could come as soon as two to three weeks from now.

"@LlabTooFeR I'll be getting my new HTC One later today. I'm moving for the first time from iPhone 4. When will 4.2.2 be available :(," asked GidyorsunPro.

To which the leakster replied "@GidiyorsunPro 2-3 weeks I think."

If the new information is true, then the HTC One will be at par with the Galaxy S4 when it comes to software. The HTC One, after innumerable delays, finally hit the shelves in April and came pre-loaded with Sense 5 and the older Android 4.1 software from Google, which is a step below the current Android 4.2.2.

Google released Android 4.2 in Nov. 2012 and the Nexus 4 was the first smartphone to boast the operating system. Several months into the release, HTC One users would have hoped that the Taiwan-based company would bring the latest software their way; however, that was not to be at debut.

HTC is yet to disclose any details pertaining to the roll out of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean update for the HTC One. With Google announcing Android 4.3, HTC One owners would be hoping that the jump from Android 4.1.2 to Android 4.2.2 does not take long.
