New MacBook Air In June With New Intel Haswell Processor?

While the rumor mills are on overdrive over the launch of the next-gen iPad and iPhone, Apple, it seems, is quietly gearing up to launch yet another iDevice next month. Apple is set to give iFans a refreshed version of the popular MacBook Air in June itself.

Now stocks of the current-gen MacBook air are slowly drying up on major retailers, fueling speculation that Apple will launch a refreshed version of the device.

According to AppleInsider, stock for the popular 13.3-inch MacBook Air is slowly dwindling at major online retailers and the device "is currently out of stock at resellers AmazonB&HMacConnection, and MacMall. In addition, J&R is currently advertising that the thin-and-light notebook is only available for purchase in its brick-and-mortar stores."

This model touts a 1.8GHz processor and a 256GB SSD. BestBuy still has the laptop in stock; however, the Apple-centric website indicates that it is the "only reseller on AppleInsider's Mac Price Guide that is currently advertising available inventory."

While low stock is not necessarily a confirmation that Apple is going to launch the next-gen MacBook Air, low inventory at authorized Apple outlets are typically a strong indication that a product refresh is in the cards. Usually, when the next-gen version of the product is gearing up to enter the market, inventory of previous-gen models starts getting discounted or reduced to make room for the new product.

Last month KGI Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo hinted that Apple intends to introducing a new MacBook Air, which would have Intels' next-gen Haswell processor under the hood. The new MacBook Air would debut at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event according to the analyst and would also tout improved graphics.

Apple's annual WWDC is scheduled to take place from June 10 to June 14.
