Horizon Zero Dawn Sequel Could Include More Machines, Says Art Director

Horizon Zero Dawn has made a strong impact as PlayStation's latest IP for its prehistoric mix with futuristic technology. Guerrilla Games has shared more info about the game itself and the possibility of a sequel.

Despite being overshadowed by a few titles, HZD was still appreciated as a strong new IP in the PlayStation lineup. The game sold millions during its first two weeks alone and it seems like fans still want more. Even at this point, it seems like the developers might already be planning some things for the future of the franchise.

According to WWG, writer John Gonzalez claimed that they are "humbled" by the feedback from the players and their emotional connection to the protagonist, Aloy. Because of this, their number one goal for a possible sequel is to respect that connection by crafting a story with similar depth. Moreover, Gonzalez claimed that the last thing they would want to do is to disappoint fans who have passionately supported the game.

With this in mind, it seems like Aloy's adventure might not be over yet as she might take the spotlight yet again in the second installment of Horizon Zero Dawn. Art director Jan-Bart van Beek, on the other hand, shared that he would like to create even more machines for the sequel. In truth, he wanted to include a hundred of these contraptions in the current title but it seems like the game would not be able to handle it.

Finally, game director Mathijs de Jonge took note of the various criticism towards the installment. He plans to look closely at the features that could use some improvements. Some things they could possibly work on are the role-playing elements and the repetitiveness near the end of the game.

A Horizon Zero Dawn sequel would no doubt boost the game's popularity and prestige if done properly. Going by everything the developers mentioned, it seems like they are in for a much bigger project in the future. For now, fans can enjoy the main game on the PS4.
