Shazam Rolls Out 'Complete' Redesign And New Features For iPad

Shazam! It's one of the most popular apps available for your mobile device and works almost like magic in revealing what music (or television show) is playing off of any stereo/monitor that might be blaring out the good (or bad) tunes/shows.

Just today (Thursday, May 23), there's been a new announcement from the firm that refers to itself as "the world's leading media engagement company" as far as Shazam's new features and "complete" redesign for the iPad.

According to Shazam, these changes will delight iPad users who will now be able to see newly improved TV and music tag results via the Shazam layout. Users will also be able to browse what their friends have been watching and listening to.

"The updated app also launches an exclusive new Auto-Tagging feature that helps you continually recognize and engage with any media playing around you, including music, television programs, and TV advertisements - automatically," Shazam says.

"The new app design for iPad is sponsored in the US by the Fiat Brand and Fox Broadcasting Company for the first three months after launch."

Other features that iPad users will be able to take advantage of with Shazam include:

  •  Super speedy tagging that enables recognition in as little as one second
  •  LyricsPlay that is full-screen: This plays the lyrics on-screen in real time along with the song playing
  •  New mapping that allows the user to determine what people are listening to in any city in the world

"We have seen amazing growth and expansion in both the number of people who use Shazam on iPad as well as their level of engagement," Shazam CEO Rich Riley said.

"With more than 300 million Shazamers globally who use the app more than ten million times each day to discover more about the music and television they are interested in, we have created an exciting and engaging new iPad experience for existing and new users."

"During the last year, we have seen triple-digit growth in the number of downloads of the iPad version of our app," Riley continued. "iPad offers an ideal way to experience more on the second screen as people watch television (the first screen), giving them more space to engage in additional content. Our new app gives our fans the most efficient way to experience more of the media around them whether they are in their home or anywhere throughout the world."

Because the new iOS Shazam is universal, it will work across all iPad iterations, be they the original iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad mini or even iPhone iterations and the iPod touch.

The new features and redesign, which will also be released on Android in the next few weeks, can be accessed through various payment iterations of Shazam, be it Free, Encore or (SHAZAM)RED versions.
