Bumblebee Spin-Off Movie To Star Hailee Steinfeld

Paramount has revealed that a “Transformers” spinoff movie featuring the lovable character Bumblebee is in the works. Along with the announcement, it has been revealed that Hailee Steinfeld is in talks for the lead role.

Hailee Steinfeld Eyed For Lead Role in Bumblebee Spinoff

With the fifth installment of the franchise, “Transformers: The Last Knight” yet to air this month, Paramount has already revealed its future projects. It announced that a sixth “Transformers” movie is already in the works and has been slated to release in June 2019. In addition, a spinoff film starring one of the Autobots, namely Bumblebee has also been announced and it is set to make its premiere on June 8 next year.

Actress-singer Hailee Steinfeld is reportedly in talks to land the main role in the Bumblebee spinoff. While Steinfeld joining the cast has not yet been finalized, her role in the series is also being kept in the dark. Aside from her mysterious role, there is no word yet on what the plot is. The producers of the movie will be composed of Michael Bay, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Brian Goldner, Steven Spielberg, and Mark Vahradian.

Bumblebee Spinoff Will Not Focus On Transformers?

The “Transformers” movie franchise started off great but as the years went by and the cast were changed, fans expressed disappointment over the films. They particularly did not like how a movie about the famed Transformers were focused on the human leads instead of the alien robots. And it seems like the pattern will continue with the Bumblebee spinoff.

Though Steinfeld’s role and the movie plot is still under the wraps, there are reports that it might not focus on the Transformers at all. Steinfeld’s role, though still unconfirmed, is said to be a young tomboy who holds a job as a mechanic after school. This brief details could mean that the movie will simply be about the adventures of a young mechanic who meets a Transformer.
