The Pagani Zonda Revolucion: End of an era

Pagani has unveiled its final Zonda supercar, the Revolucion, marking the end to a storied and hallowed 14-year run. The carmaker said it sought to create something even more extreme than the already extreme Zonda R and the Revolucion lives up to that billing.

Boasting a 6-liter V12 engine sourced from Mercedes, it delivers 800 horsepower and 550 lb.-ft. of torque. The gearbox can change gears in just 20ms. The Revolucion's central chassis is built from carbon fiber and titanium and the car weighs in at just around 2,350 lbs., giving it an incredible power-to-weight ratio of more than 747hp per ton.

Some of the biggest changes from the Zonda R have been to the car's aerodynamic features. New deflectors have been added to the front bonnet and a vertical stabilizer on the rear. The rear wing features customizable downforce settings that can either be changed manually on the fly through controls on the steering wheel or set to work automatically according to algorithms created by Pagani.

"Limits are made to be overcome. We knew that Pagani Zonda R was already a fast car, the fastest ever on the Nuerburgring Nordschleife. We knew it would be very difficult to design and build a car that was even more extreme," said Horacio Pagani, owner and chief designer of Pagani Automobil in a press statement. "But thanks to the creativity of our designers, engineers, and the whole Pagani family, we created a beautiful object and the fastest Pagani vehicle ever. A car that I am sure will electrify all our customers and fans all over the world."

The Pagani Zonda Revolucion carries a hefty price tag. It starts at $2.9 million and goes up from there depending on options. It's unclear what those are just yet, but Pagani says each Revolucion will be tailored to its owner. In either case, the company will only ever build five and they're probably already spoken for.
