ESportz Network detailed how Overwatch became popular over the years.

Overwatch has gone a long way since its debut on May 24, 2016. When it came to games in general, Overwatch was a one-of-a-kind experience. The game was well-designed and eventually enjoyable.

The notion of being able to play a variety of characters with different skill sets was incredible. Especially in the context of a multiplayer first-person shooter. When Overwatch first came out, there were twenty-one characters to choose from.

This helped the game get a large amount of support, which contributed to its business potential. Overwatch would eventually reach seven million gamers in its first week of launch. Since then, the game's popularity has skyrocketed, and according to Activision, Overwatch now has 50 million players, said the report, citing Investor Activision.

The 2018 Overwatch League Season was the first season for Overwatch's competitive environment (Overwatch League). Which became one of the most significant Esports tournaments in gaming history. A total prize pool of $3.5 million is available to be won. Because of the Esports launch, Overwatch will continue to develop even faster than usual.

Overwatch also raised over $12.7 million for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in 2018, which will be used to increase awareness and funds for research.
