Hey Call of Duty Cheaters, Get Good or Get Wrecked by This New Anti-Cheat Software

Cheaters now have another reason to "git gud," thanks to an update on Call of Duty's anti-cheat security driver.

Activision recently released a PC kernel-level anti-cheat security driver that prevents cheaters on Call of Duty Vanguard from seeing other players who play the games as intended.

The updated anti-cheat security driver will soon be available for Call of Duty Warzone.

Call of Duty RICOCHET Anti-Cheat Software Update Details

According to Activision's post on the official Call of Duty blog, the RICOCHET anti-cheat software from Activision's #TeamRICOCHET uses a new in-game mitigation technique called cloaking, preventing players who it found to be cheating from seeing others who play legitimately.

In addition, cheating players will not be able to see and hear bullets and sounds from legitimate players. Meanwhile, players who play the game as intended will see the cheaters impacted by RICOCHET's cloaking and can "dish out" in-game punishment. As such, legitimate players can fire and neutralize cheaters without fear of retaliation.

Cheaters affected by RICOCHET's cloaking are easily spotted through their confused spinning as they try to figure out who's shooting at them and from where. You can also hear them shouting, "Who's shooting at me?!" or typing something similar in the in-game chat.

#TeamRICOCHET designed these in-game mitigations to give honest players an advantage over cheaters and reduce their impact on the game and the community as a whole.

#Team RICOCHET previously released in-game mitigation called Damage Shield, which disables a cheater's ability to deal critical damage to other players, per a separate blog post from Activision.

However, as cheaters are working on circumventing these countermeasures against them, Activision advises players to report incidents of cheating using the in-game reporting tool.

"If you see a cheater in the wild, report it, " Activision said. "This information is invaluable to make new updates in the fight against unfair play."

#teamRICOCHET's PC kernel level anti-cheat security driver and its cloaking in-game mitigation feature will come for Vanguard first to serve as a testing ground for its eventual arrival in Warzone.

Leaderboard Removal

Activision also mentioned in its blog post that it was able to delete players who got banned from the leaderboards because of cheating with the help of its internal development partners.

Thanks to these efforts, the game developer has banned over 54,000 Call of Duty accounts in addition to the over 90,000 stated in a previous update.

These bans are said to happen daily and always in waves, but are not announced as they happen.

These anti-cheat measures come at a perfect time as Activision recently announced the arrival of Godzilla and King Kong to Caldera Island for Warzone through the Operation Monarch limited-time in-game event.

The Kaiju didn't come alone either. Activision also included three limited-time bundles based on Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, and King Kong to Warzone when Operation Monarch comes on May 11, per Activision's blog post on the event.

Additionally, if you purchase any two of the limited-time bundles, you will receive an exclusive "Godzilla vs. Kong" Weapon Sticker and the "Superspecies" Player Title. If you buy all the bundles, you'll receive a Legendary "Apex Phase Rifle" SMG.
