Apple is now launching a self-service repair program for iPhones in the U.S. The tech giant has been gearing up for this moment.

For a while now, the company has been handing its iPhone users their right to repair. Apple took everyone by surprise when it announced its self-service repair program last November.

Apple customers confident in their ability to perform their own repairs can benefit from the program by gaining access to legitimate parts and tools.

According to an announcement made today, the self-service repair store is available just in the United States, but it will eventually expand to more countries, starting in Europe later this year.

Apple Self Service Repair Store

Apple's newest answer to broken products is designed for people who have the necessary knowledge and experience to repair electronic devices on their own.

When it comes to repairing iPhone devices, The Apple Self Service Repair Store gives its users access to authentic Apple parts, tools, and repair manuals so that they can complete their own out-of-warranty repairs.

As reported by Ars Technica, Apple users will first review the repair manual for the product they wish to repair by visiting Apple's self-service repair page before beginning the self-service repair process.

Then they can go to the Apple Self-Service Repair Store and place an order for the parts and tools that they require.

A total of more than 200 individual parts and tools are available through the new online store, allowing customers who are familiar with the complexities of repairing electronic devices to complete repairs on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineups, as well as the iPhone SE (3rd generation), including the display, battery, and camera. The program will also include manuals, parts, and tools for performing repairs on Mac computers that contain Apple silicon, which will be available later this year.

Apple's efforts to broaden access to repair services include the introduction of self-service repair. However, visiting a professional repair vendor with certified technicians who use authentic Apple parts is the safest and most efficient way to get a repair for the vast majority of Apple customers who have no prior experience repairing electronic devices.

Apple's High Quality Products

The Apple tools that customers can access through the self-service repair store are the same tools that are available to Apple's repair network.

The company will offer tool rental kits for $49, allowing customers who do not wish to purchase tools for a single repair to still have access to these high-quality, professional-grade repair tools. The one-week rental kits will be shipped to customers at no additional cost.

In order to provide the best possible repairs for Apple products, they have been specifically designed to withstand the stresses and strains of high-volume, professional repair operations where safety and reliability are of the utmost importance.

Self-service repair includes torque drivers, repair trays, display and battery presses, and other high-quality tools. They are available from Self Service Repair, as are other services and products.

The self-service effort of Apple is also part of its aim to reduce intensive carbon mining by creating high-quality products. The company promises durable design products that rarely require maintenance or repair. This results in products that are better for people and the planet.
