Qualcomm WiFi 7

The next-generation Wi-Fi protocol that goes by the name Wi-Fi 7 has yet to launch.

Despite that, the giant chip maker, Qualcomm, already revealed what consumers could expect from it once it starts hitting the shelves.

One of which is the blazing fast speed that the new WiFi technology readily supports. According to a recent report by Android Authority, it is notably three times faster than the current offering of WiFi 6.

To be more precise, WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E only support the maximum speed of roughly around 10 Gbps.

On top of that, the American chipmaker also says that the WiFi 7 expands the number of devices that could connect to the wireless network. It is worth noting that it far exceeds what the current technology offers with WiFi 6.

WiFi 7 Scalability

Qualcomm says that the upcoming WiFi 7 technology allows up to 500 users to connect to the network with a single channel alone.

The senior vice president and general manager for the Wireless Infrastructure and Networking of Qualcomm, Nick Nick Kucharewski, said that the all-new WiFi 7 innovation is a versatile solution.

The Qualcomm exec further elaborated on it, saying that it provides "powerful connectivity networks for large public venues." Apart from that, it could also serve as a whole-home mesh.

WiFi 7 Better Latency

On top of that, the tech firm also touted the new WiFi 7 to upgrade the overall connection with its "incredible low latency," which benefits most users with the emergence of both mobile gaming and video calls.

Essentially, the all-new WiFi solution improves both the speeds and the latency of what the current 6 and 6E offer consumers.

Qualcomm WiFi 7 Networking Pro

According to a recent report by The Register, Qualcomm has already unveiled its WiFi 7 products, which should start seeing the light of day not later than in 2023.

It includes the Networking Pro 620 with a peak wireless capacity of 10.8 Gbps, which is roughly similar to what the current WiFi 6 offers.

There is also the Networking Pro 820, which could go as high as 13.7 Gbps, whereas the Networking Pro 1220 could reach up to 21.6 Gbps.

Lastly, the top-of-the-time option, the Networking Pro 1620, supports game-changing speeds of up to 33.1 Gpbs.

It is to note, though, that even if Qualcomm is going to start providing the WiFi chipsets on 2023, the final draft for the new wireless technology protocol will not be available until 2024.
