From 'Friends' to 'The Sopranos': TV Series That Have Video Games You Might Not Know About

Video game developers and publishers take inspiration from nearly anything when creating their games. Many create their own original stories, while others rely on already available material to work with. These include movies, comic books, and even TV series.

These days, you have probably heard of video games that are getting their own tv series adaptations. Examples of which include Resident Evil and The Witcher. But did you know that there are TV shows out there that ended up getting video games as well?

Here are some examples of TV series that ended up having video games based on them:

Friends: The One with All the Trivia ('Friends')

It cannot be denied that "Friends" is definitely one of the most iconic TV series of all time. Given that, it may not come as a surprise that the hit show ended up having its own video game.

Friends: The One with All the Trivia is the show's video game that was released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2 as well as Windows. According to the game's description on MobyGames, "This game challenges player to answer a series of multiple-choice questions about characters and events of the 10 seasons of 'Friends.'"

These questions fall under different categories, including Relationships, Memorable Moments, and Shake-ups and Make-ups.

Lost: Via Domus ('Lost')

ABC series "Lost" aired from 2004 to 2010 and somewhere along the way, specifically after the third season, a video game based on it was released.

The video game was released in 2008 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows. GameSpot describes it as "a game based on the TV series featuring characters struggling to survive on a seemingly deserted Pacific island."

The Sopranos: Road to Respect ('The Sopranos')

The HBO series "The Sopranos" is not only an award-winning show, but it is often regarded as one of the greatest TV series of all time. According to an article by Esquire, the executives of the network wanted to capitalize on the fame of the show by producing a video game based on it.

What came out of those plans is The Sopranos: Road to Respect, which was released exclusively for the PlayStation 2 in 2006. The story of the game is set between the fifth and sixth seasons of the show and features voice acting by the original cast of the series.

The X-Files Game ('The X-Files')

You cannot talk about the best TV series from the 90s and the early 2000s without mentioning Fox's The X-Files. The science fiction drama involves the lead characters solving paranormal chases and this premise eventually became the basis for a video game called The X-Files Game.

The oldest video game on this list, The X-Files Game was released in 1998. It is a point and click adventure game playable on the first PlayStation as well as Windows and Mac OS. The story is set during the third season of "The X-Files."
