The PlayStation 5 slim version was created by a DIY YouTuber named Matt Perks.
Sony's PlayStation 5 is one bulky gaming console, and Perks had the idea to bring it to himself with the creation of a slimmer version of the PS 5.
The end product is a sleek copper console that houses the essential elements of the PS5 as well as a very massive external power supply and cooling solution that can be concealed out of sight.
PlayStation 5 Slim Version
The PlayStation 5 is the single largest gaming system that Sony has probably ever released, standing at roughly 390 millimeters (15.4 inches) in height, 260 millimeters (10.24 inches) deep, and 104 millimeters (4.09 inches) wide, as stated by Sony.
A DIY YouTuber has now constructed a PS5 "Slim" model that is a fraction of the thickness of the plastic boxes that store PS5 games. The PS5 is a massive console, the largest in modern history. Nevertheless, the YouTuber challenged himself to recreate the PS5 in a slim version.
Matt Perks, better known on YouTube by his username DIY Perks, has put in a significant amount of time and effort to develop a "Slim" version of the PlayStation 5 that reduces the console's height from over four inches to just under an inch.
This comes as no surprise, as Perks is well known for his do-it-yourself consumer electronics and other useful electronic products. Perks offers helpful do-it-yourself suggestions to folks who could find them of value. Perks is an English craftsman and YouTuber.
Because of the slim copper console, the majority of the thickness of the PlayStation 5 came from its cooling heatsink and power supply. As a result, DIY Perks relocated those components into a long external unit in order to make the actual console look much more appealing when placed on top of a TV stand.

PlayeStation 5's Custom Cooling and Power Supply
DIY Perks observed significant reductions in RAM and VRM temperatures, and they highlighted that these temperatures may be reduced much more with the addition of a more powerful external cooling unit.
As reported by Kotaku, copper sheeting is utilized to direct water flow over the CPU of the PlayStation 5, which has had its previous cooling method replaced by a custom water cooling system.
The PlayStation 5 that DIY Perks recreated had a customized cooling and power supply to achieve the goal of making a slimmer PS5.
According to The Verge, by developing an external power supply, DIY Perks followed in the footsteps of Sony's small console models for the PS2 and PS1. This external power and cooling device initially resulted in a tragedy, as it caused the motherboard of the PS5 to become damaged.
His first attempt at powering the device failed. This occurred when the unit fell over and impeded airflow, which prevented the console from being cooled adequately. However, after replacing the motherboard, the PS5 slim was able to boot normally and continue to function normally when playing games.
The PS5 slim version is definitely creative and a project done out of curiosity. Perks definitely broke and bent some rules in making his version. Despite that, it is still fascinating how he was able to deliver and recreate the PS5.
The power and cooling features are definitely not accurate to that of the original design, but Perks was able to pull through by just using regular tools.
