Amazon Prime Subscribers Can Now Get Free GrubHub Plus Deliveries Starting Today

Amazon is adding another incentive for people to subscribe to Amazon Prime.

The company recently announced Amazon prime subscribers in the US could enjoy a one-year Grubhub Plus membership with no food-delivery fees on eligible orders less than a week before Amazon Prime Day.

2022's Amazon Prime Day is scheduled to be held on July 12 at midnight PDT (3 AM EDT) and on July 13.

Amazon Prime + GrubHub Plus Membership Details

Amazon mentioned in its announcement that it would be giving Amazon Prime subscribers within the US a free, full one-year Grubhub Plus membership, which is priced at $9.99 per month.

The popular e-commerce company mentioned that the cost of the Grubhub Plus membership would not be added to Amazon Prime subscribers' monthly subscription fee.

The offer includes unlimited free food delivery fees on orders over $12 and exclusive perks for Grubhub Plus members, and rewards like free food and order discounts.

Additionally, free deliveries connected with Grubhub Plus are available from hundreds of thousands of restaurants in over 4,000 cities in the US.

Furthermore, diners can choose to donate to GrubHub's Donate the Change program while eating out.

Amazon Prime subscribers who wish to avail the deal will need to visit amazon.com/grubhub to activate it. However, it is only effective for one year only. After the free one-year Grubhub Plus membership ends, Amazon will charge Amazon Prime subscribers $9.99 a month to maintain the perks and free delivery fee services the membership provides, per The Verge.

The $9.99 will be applied from the start of the next billing cycle once it ends.

In addition, Amazon Prime subscribers who opt to cancel their subscription will also automatically cancel the GrubHub Plus membership.

The deal comes after Amazon took a 2% stake in a collaboration agreement with GrubHub's parent company, Just Eat Takeaway, per Business Insider.

GrubHub's parent company mentioned in a statement it is expecting that the agreement both companies signed will expand membership to GrubHub Plus while having a neutral impact on GrubHub's 2022 earning and cash flow. Meanwhile, the impact of the agreement is expected to be reflected in GrubHub's cash flow from 2023 onwards.

GrubHub CEO Adam DeWitt mentioned that he is "incredibly excited" to announce the collaboration as it will help GrubHub continue to deliver on its long-standing mission to "connect more diners with local restaurants."

"Amazon has redefined convenience with Prime and we're confident this offering will expose many new diners to the value of grubHub Plus while driving more business to our restaurant partners and drivers," DeWitt said.

Other Amazon Prime Subscription Perks

In addition to the GrubHub Plus membership and in anticipation of Amazon prime Day on July 12, Amazon is also giving Prime subscribers 48-hour early access to a never-before-seen 60-second exclusive sneak peek of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" TV series starting on July 6.

Furthermore, Amazon is also offering Prime subscribers Prime Day savings a week early on home entertainment devices, to fan gear for members ahead of the first exclusive "Thursday Night Football" game that is scheduled to start on September 15.
