These are the Android Phone Features That Can be Pretty Useful in iPhones Too

Androids and iOS phones couldn't be any more different. According to buildfire, Apple is strict when it comes to app submissions, rules and timelines, and push notifications. Meanwhile, Android apps and app listings can be updated without a human review, and it offers a more customizable experience to the end user due to the many phone manufacturers using it.

Based on these differences, there are some things that an Android phone doesn't have while an iOS device does and vice versa, which could either be a benefit or detriment to some users who are planning to switch from one platform to another.

As such, here are some features that Android phones have that should be in iOS devices too.

More Customization Options

One of Google's main selling points is its customization options, which allow you to choose your default app for email and web browsing. CNET mentioned that you can even choose to use another app to send and receive text messages other than the preinstalled one, such as Google Messages, which provides almost the same features as Apple's iMessage.

A Better AI Assistant

Siri may have been the first AI assistant, but the original can only be great for so long until it is eclipsed by its predecessors, which is what happened with Google Assistant.

Google Assistant can understand common requests for businesses and names thanks to its connection to Google search, which has hundreds of thousands of keywords that Google Assistant can draw from.

This database is something Siri doesn't have, and as such, it can't recognize commands or requests that aren't programmed in its keyword database.

Additionally, Google Assistant is more used in automating or controlling smart home systems, which is a welcome benefit if you have less than enough energy to do things yourself.

Access To Both Internal And External Storage Over USB

Another benefit of Android phones that iOS devices don't have is the ability to access both internal and external storage when the device is connected to a computer via USB cable.

Unlike an iPhone that only gives you access to the photos and videos saved in its internal storage, MakeUseOf states that Android phones not only give you access to these two but also to all the files saved in the phone's internal and external storage. This feature allows you to add, delete, and modify files at will.

Install Custom ROMs

Since Apple is being strict with the apps it offers in its app store, iOS devices won't be able to have any custom ROMs installed on them, which is something that an Android phone can have.

Custom ROMs are modified versions of the Android OS that offer better functionality and various customization options, such as extended battery life and the ability to unlock higher fps values in games.

Multi-Window

Finally, there's multi-windowing, which is also known as picture-in-picture (PiP) or split-screen.

Yes, there are apps that allow for PiP on iOS devices, such as Apple's preinstalled Safari web browser app and Twitch. However, this feature is only exclusive to these apps. As such, you can't watch your favorite Netflix series while scrolling through Twitter or Facebook, per YugaTech.
