Google slashed the prices of its Nexus 4 smartphones by $100. The $199 8GB model sold out and Google has confirmed it won't be back, but you can still get the 16GB model.
When Google announced that it was cutting the price of both its 8GB and 16GB Nexus 4, it was pretty clear the company was trying to get rid of inventory. It was believed that the price cuts were introduced so the company could quickly sell the devices at a discount as it makes room for its next-generation Nexus smartphone. Google's plan worked, and the 8GB Nexus 4 is no longer available. The company has also confirmed that it will not be restocking the 8GB smartphone.
If you missed out on purchasing the 8GB Nexus 4, you can still pick up the 16GB model (while they last) for an even better deal than the 8GB variant. The 16GB Nexus 4 is currently in stock and can be purchased for $249, which doubles the storage space for only $50. The smartphone can still go head to head with current flagship handsets on the market at a fraction of the cost, since it's sold unlocked.
The Nexus 4 features a 4.7-inch 1280 x 768 IPS Gorilla Glass LCD display with a pixel density of 318 pixels per inch (ppi) and is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. The handset runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (can be updated to Android 4.3 out of the box), includes 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. It comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera. In terms of wireless connectivity you'll find a 4G HSPA+ radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and built-in wireless charging. It's also packing a 2.100 mAh battery, which provides up to 15 hours of talk time.
If you're interested in the 16GB Nexus 4, you probably should act fast, as it probably won't be available too much longer now that the 8GB model is sold out and won't be returning. Once the 16GB variant sells out, it's also highly unlikely Google will be restocking that model either.
