Konami Confirms Silent Hill Rumors in Latest Event — Here’s What You Need To Know

The Silent Hill franchise is back, and it comes with wondrously terrifying games for gamers to enjoy.

Konami has recently revealed it is developing three new but vastly different Silent Hill games simultaneously and the much-rumored remake of the highly successful Silent Hill 2.

These three Silent Hill games are the first games in the franchise to be in development since the controversial cancellation of Hideo Kojima's Silent Hills video game on April 27, 2015, per The Verge.

Silent Hill Transmission Revelations Details

Konami announced during its Silent Hill Transmission online-only event that all of the Silent Hill games currently in development are being worked on by different video game developers.

There are a total of four games in development, with three of them taking place in the same universe, per Engadget. These games are Silent Hill Townfall, Silent Hill Ascension, and Silent Hill f.

The fourth game is a remake of Silent Hill 2, the most successful game in the entire Silent Hill franchise, per Game Rant and a Screen Rant article citing Metacritic's findings.

These pieces of information confirm a long-standing rumor that Konami is developing multiple Silent Hill games behind the scenes, as Twitter user AestheticGamer1 previously leaked.

It can be argued that Konami confirmed AestheticGamer1's information by taking down the photos they leaked with a DMCA takedown, heavily hinting that the company is indeed developing at least one Silent Hill game behind the scenes.

Let's start with the remake. According to Konami's event, Bloober team, the same developer behind The Medium, Blair Witch, and the Layers of Fear series, is developing the remake.

Townfall, is being developed by Annapurna Interactive and No Code, the game developing team behind Observation and Stories Untold.

The game is described as the most traditional looking of the three games based on what its short teaser revealed. Additionally, John McKellen, No Code's creative director, tells gamers to expect some "deep psychological horror" in the game - a signature trait in No Code's games.

Ascension, according to Eurogamer, is a "live, real-time interactive series" similar to Heavy rain and Until Dawn. Players watch the series together and participate in it by deciding the outcome of some scenes.

The game is a collaboration between Konami, Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive, Genvid, DJ2 Entertainment, and J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Games.

Finally, Silent Hill f  is a new entry into the franchise, with it being set in Japan during the 1960s. The game is written by Japanese visual novel specialist Ryūkishi07, who is known for writing in psychological horror and supernatural mysterious to their work.

Silent Hill Games Release Date And Availability

The remake of Silent Hill 2 is already available to wishlist on the PS5 as of the writing of this article. However, gamers on the Xbox platform will have to wait for a whole year to get their hands on Silent Hill 2's remake.

Konami added that Silent Hill 2 would be exclusive to the PlayStation and PC for one year after its launch, per Kotaku.

Unfortunately, there is no official release date for two of the three connected Silent Hill games, with Ascension being the only one confirmed to be launching sometime in 2023.

There is no word on which platforms these games will be available on.
