Android 4.3 arriving on Canadian Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 in November

Samsung Canada has confirmed that it will release Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software update to the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4 in November this year.

The Korean company launched the Galaxy Note 3 phablet along with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch at its Unpacked event on Sept. 4. The latest Samsung phablet comes pre-loaded with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system.

Galaxy Gear customers can integrate the device with their Samsung smartphone to access an array of features, but the Galaxy Note 3 is currently the only smartphone that can work with the Galaxy Gear. Samsung announced back at the unveiling event that it will release a software update to older devices so that the Galaxy Gear is compatible with them as well.

A Mobile Syrup report now cites Paul Brannan, Samsung Canada's VP Enterprise Business Division, during a presentation at the Canadian Wireless Trade Show, who confirmed that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will arrive on Canadian Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 in November. Following the software update these devices will become compatible with the Galaxy Gear.

The latest Samsung smartwatch has already hit the shelves but older Samsung smartphone owners won't be able to integrate their devices to the smartwatch until a software update is rolled out in Canada.

The Galaxy S4 released in April this year comes pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. However, the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3, which were launched in 2012, are currently running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3 will skip the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software update and will receive Android 4.3 Jelly Bean instead.

A recent report also suggests that the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4 will start getting Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software update in October this year but only in select regions. In some regions such as the U.S. and Canada, customers may have to wait a bit longer until individual carriers roll out the software update.

An exact release date for Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in Canada is not known. As such, customers will have to wait until Samsung and individual carriers in the coutry confirm a software release date for the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4.
