YouTube TV to Introduce Spit-Screen Feature for NFL Sunday Ticket

YouTube may launch a split-screen feature just before the NFL Sunday Ticket games will air. The feature will allow subscribers to watch multiple games at once, which has already been confirmed by the company.

Multiple Games in One TV

Neal Mohan, an executive at YouTube TV, claimed that they were working on a feature that lets viewers watch multiple games at once. He announced that the split-screen viewing is also called "Mosaic Mode," and that it will be a perk for watching the NFL Sunday Ticket.

The split-screen mode would best work with big screens like TVs, and given that living room screens are the fastest-growing screen for YouTube, the investment comes at the perfect time. The company announced the feature back in August of 2022, as mentioned by 9To5Mac.

The way it works is that subscribers can stream up to four live feeds, each having its own quadrant as the screen is divided into four. It will give users the opportunity to stay tuned to more than one game or feed.

The feature is also set to be available for the YouTube app, which would also get the NFL Sunday Ticket through Primetime Channels. If you are subscribed to YouTube Premium, you won't have to get the Sunday Ticket since the deal is for residential viewing.

It's still unclear whether the NFL Sunday Ticket will be shown in 4K, but it will be available on YouTube TV in 2023 once the NFL season starts. It could cost around $300 per season, but no official price has been announced yet.

It depends on how they plan to make up for the cost of acquiring the NFL Sunday ticket, which will cost the company around $2 billion per season.

What Else is New with YouTube TV

In case you haven't heard, YouTube Shorts can now be viewed on your TV. It was launched on November 7th of 2022. Since YouTube Shorts is YouTube's fastest-growing format, it makes sense that they would show it on TVs, as mentioned in Variety.

Although, you will need a smart TV that was released around 2019 or later to be able to get this update. Users can view the Shorts through the shelf on YouTube's TV app homepage. Users can even choose to watch the Shorts directly from a creator's channel.

Other Ways to Watch Multiple Screens

There are other ways for you to watch multiple screens if you want to watch somewhere else besides YouTube TV. If you're watching on an LG TV, you can use the brand's multi-view feature. All you have to do is navigate through "My Programmes" and pick what you want to watch.

There's also the HDMI port option where you can use an HDMI splitter to connect multiple devices to the TV. Depending on the HDMI splitter and what the TV will allow you to do, you can watch up to four screens as well, as mentioned in Find Differ.
