7 City-Building Simulators You Can Find on Steam

There's a sense of achievement when you build something out of nothing, which is why there are many building simulator games out there, and most of them are also good too. They revolve around certain themes that make the gameplay better, and here is a couple.

1. Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming

"Game of Thrones" is one of the few shows that has an intro you wouldn't want to skip. The intricate miniature buildings are just eye-catching as they develop, and you see glimpses of the different locations in Westeros.

In this game, you get to build your Westeros. The game takes place after Ned or Eddard Stark dies. You will be a lord or a lady, building your own town as well as your army. You'll fill the shoes of the characters in the show as you play the game, and it's free!

2. Romans: Age of Caesar

Romans were ahead of their time when it comes to building a city, as pointed out by PCGamesN. Your role will be to rebuild the Roman Empire, but you will do so with other players. You can play with up to 16 others to accomplish certain tasks as you work on your city.

It will feel as though you are part of an actual community. Others can gather resources, defend your city from barbarians, and build trade routes, while you create buildings to expand your territory. You can also build relationships with other cities.

3. Tropico 6

This one is set in a more modern time. You will build a city on an archipelago, as well as keep your citizens happy, deal with the city's economic needs, and overcome challenges brought by corrupt officials. Like other games, there will also be consequences if you make the wrong decision, so choose wisely.

4. Settlement Survival

Like mentioned before, some of the city-building simulators stick to a theme, and this one will take you to the medieval era. You'll be in charge of many things to keep the town successful like providing food supplies, protection, education, and job opportunities, according to Game Rant, so you will need management skills for that.

5. Magna Graecia

We've covered ancient Rome, so how about a building simulator set in ancient Greece? The game has relaxing graphics for those who want to build a city casually. You'll need to watch your resources which are olives and grapes. You will also encounter strategy and puzzle elements just to keep things interesting.

This semi-pixel graphics game requires creativity and strategy for your city to grow. Instead of money, you will have to collect 30 different resources and improve your city's education to progress further. If you do things right, your city will even grow on its own, so it'll be like an actual civilization.

7. Sapiens

Since we've managed to go back as far as ancient Greece, let's take it further to pre-historic times. Sapiens will let you experience life before there were even civilizations. You will build the first settlement in a location that has access to resources, has good climate, and other factors.

You won't stay in the pre-historic era, though. When you play it right, you will eventually reach a time of technology. You will guide your colonies and manage their moods, physical health, and mental health.
