Among Us to Discontinue Support for Older Mobile Devices

Among Us has grown in popularity during the pandemic after streamers from YouTube and Twitch started playing it. Although the hype has died down, many players are still active, and some may have to upgrade their devices to keep playing since InnerSloth is sunsetting its support on certain devices.

Upgrade Your Device or Link Your Game Data

It's normal for a game to stop supporting certain devices once they become out of date. Developers will keep on improving it to retain and encourage players, and some devices no longer have the hardware that can support it.

Starting May 15th, 2023, incompatible devices will no longer be able to play Among Us, unless they have the specified requirements provided by the game's developer, InnerSloth. Minimum requirements for iOS, Android, and iPadOS devices had already been announced.

For Android, you will need to have an Android 6.0 or later, with a minimum RAM of 2.1 GB. iPhones will need to run on iOS 13.0 or later, and iPads should have iPadOS 13.0 or later, as mentioned in the developer's blog.

If your mobile phone or tablet falls under the list of unsupported devices, you will need to link your Among Us account to a device that is compatible to make sure that your data and purchased cosmetics are retained before the deadline.

You can play the game on other gaming platforms such as PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. However, you cannot link your account through cross-platforms, so if you're playing on a mobile phone or tablet, you cannot transfer your data to your PC or console.

The developers might add this feature soon, but it might not happen before the deadline arrives. You'll have no other choice but to link your account on mobile phones or tablets, or you'll lose your data and acquired cosmetics.

How to Link Your Account

It's quite easy to link your account to other devices. First, launch the game and head to the top left corner to find a button with a crewmate on it. It will be indicated as "accounts." Once you tapped on the crewmate, an account window will open.

You can then go ahead and click on the "link account' button. You will be shown a few terms which you have to read through. After that, confirm by pressing "reset account" to proceed. Another window will emerge along with a unique code and a URL.

This information will be tailored to your accounts. You can copy the URL and paste it into a browser and press enter. You will find yourself on the game's official website, which is where you will be linking your accounts, as mentioned in Attack of the Fanboy.

Once you arrive at the website, you will be required to provide the unique code that was given in the previous steps. After entering it, your Among Us account will be linked, and you'll be safe from the sunset of the games on unsupported devices.
