Ubisoft Accounts Will Be Deleted After Months of Inactivity

If you play games by Ubisoft on PC, then you know the pain of having to deal with the company's own launcher every time you open them. Apparently, now it requires you to log in every few months or your account would be deleted.

Inactivity Leads to Deletion

A PC player received an email from Ubisoft stating that the account associated with their email has been temporarily suspended due to being inactive for some time, although it was not disclosed how long you can remain logged out before this happens.

After the notice, a user will have 30 days to log in before the video game company permanently deletes the account. According to the tweet, deletion of the account will also result in losing the purchases you've made with it.

The process can be canceled by clicking on the cancel button below the email before the 30-day deadline comes around. This could be unfortunate for people who don't open their emails from time to time as they can miss the one-month window.

Confirming the legitimacy of the email, Ubisoft responded to the tweet by stating that "you can avoid account closure by logging into your account within 30 days (since receiving the email pictured) and selecting the Cancel Account Closure link."

It's safe to say that you'll still have the Ubisoft games you've already purchased. The only data that will be affected when your account does get deleted will be the game progresses, but this does seem like another reason why people aren't too happy about the launcher.

As mentioned in PC Gamer, there are other digital platforms that have the same function as Ubisoft Connect, but even those that have been around longer do not have this kind of policy, requiring users to log in every once in a while to keep their data.

If you do encounter problems with logging in (maybe due to forgetting your account information after not using it for a while), you can create a support case with Ubisoft at ubisoft.com/help. Best to check your email for notifications from time to time.

Ubisoft Connect

A lot of games work well enough on their own or through PC without their own studios' launcher. Ubisoft claims that Ubisoft Connect will allow players to interact with others across all platforms for all games whether it's on PC or console.

The company sells the launcher as a way for players to save progression, especially if they decide to switch consoles or switch from console to PC, although it only works on their latest titles like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Riders Republic, and Immortals Fenyx Rising.

With the launcher, you can access all the Ubisoft games you've purchased in one platform, as well as enjoy free rewards that come with each game like free character skins, game items, and even play-for-free weekends.

According to their website, Ubisoft Connect will also allow players to get "early peeks on select games and major updates by registering to beta events and joining public test servers," which only sounds enticing due to the upcoming release of Assassin's Creed Mirage.
