Nicki Minaj Joins Snoop Dogg in Call of Duty

Nicki Minaj is coming to Call of Duty

Activision recently announced it is adding the popular pop singer to its operator roster for the fifth season of Cal of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 (MW2).

Nicki Minaj is the first-ever female celebrity operator in the game; Snoop Dogg and 21 Savage precedes her as the game's first celebrity operator.

Minaj's appearance in a Call of Duty game is not a common sight, but it has happened before. According to Activision's announcement, the pop singer first teamed up with the popular first-person shooter in 2022 for its MW2's "Squad Up" trailer with Lil Baby, Bukayo Saka, and Pete Davidson.

However, this instance will be the first time she will be a playable character in not one but two Call of Duty games - Warzone and MW2. Activision said she would appear and have her own storefront later in the games' fifth season, along with items that match her color palette and style, including the hot pink rifle in her promotional picture.

Her appearance in the game, along with Snoop Dogg and 21 Savage, is part of a 50-year celebration of Hip Hop, per IGN; players can expect to hear "...free War Tracks spanning three decades of a culture that transcends music and gaming."

Unfortunately, Activision didn't reveal any more information about Minaj's playable character in Warzone and MW2. However, Activision may reveal more about her playable character sometime during season 5.

Minaj's addition to Call of Duty's roster isn't the first unlikely addition to the games. You may remember that Activision recently added three characters from The Boys to the Operator collection, along with their own weapon skins and finishers like Homelander's laser eyes.

More outlandish operators may arrive in Call of Duty's roster in the foreseeable future, such as fictional characters, celebrities, streamers, and other pop culture icons. However, who among them will join the roster at some point is anyone's guess.

It is likely we'll see more celebrities from Activision's "Squad Up" video appear as guest characters in the game, though this is merely speculation; Snoop Dogg didn't appear in it, after all.

Other Call Of Duty Season 5 Additions

Apart from the previously mentioned pop celebrities, Activision is also adding more than a few new and familiar things in Call of Duty's Fifth season on Aug. 2. Three new maps: Punta Mar, Lounge, Canal, and Strike map from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare are coming for the fifth season, along with a brand-new Core Multiplayer mode called "Havoc."

The Havoc game mode was inspired by classic arena-shooter gameplay and then further enhanced with the injection of a random selection of frenzy-inducing modifiers.

Once a squad is the first to reach a multiple of 12 kills, the game adds a new modifier to the match for both teams from a pool of 14 available modifiers. These include the ability to auto-reload after a confirmed kill, float like they're on the Moon, shoot flaming arrows and Molotovs, and drop frag grenade-like explosions around a player when landing from a big drop.
