‘Barbenheimer’ is Becoming a Reality Thanks to Social Media Trend

Movies "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" were among the biggest movie releases of 2023. When people learned that both were going to be shown in theaters at the same time, it became a whole new thing as it was polar opposites of two greats. "Barbenheimer" memes flooded the internet, and someone must've seen its potential for profit.

A 'Barbenheimer' Movie

During its time in the cinemas, people made an effort and put on their best dress to go see either title. Videos of grown men wearing all pink as they watched "Barbie" have circulated, while women in proper attire went in to see "Oppenheimer."

It was a blast, and the high did not end in the cinema as people were having all the fun on social media as well. Just when we thought that both movies showing in theaters simultaneously were the best we could get, someone came up with an idea to put the two together.

It was revealed that production company Full Moon Features is already in pre-production, and will start filming in October. They aren't actually going to film a new movie, but they will put both movies together to create whatever they may.

According to Gizmodo, the synopsis reads: "Deep within Dollsville, a group of fed-up female dolls, led by the brilliant Dr. Barbenheimer, build an atomic bomb. Their mission? To bring down the patriarchy once and for all!"

The production team aims at a December release just in time for Christmas, although there is still no definite timetable given. With movies with completely different plots and themes, it could be exciting to see what they come up with.

The Movies

The "Barbie" movie revolves around the titular character who is played by Margot Robbie. The fantasy movie directed by Greta Gerwig shows the stereotypical character we've known having an existential crisis, specifically the idea of mortality.

The supposedly perfect "Barbie" starts developing attributes that are less than perfect, which whisks them away on an adventure to find some answers, thus, prompting Barbie and Ken to become enlightened with their existence.

The movie became the highest-grossing movie of 2023 and the biggest title for Warner Bros. "Oppenheimer" has also seen success, given that it had already hit its $1 billion mark. Both movies are already expected to be nominated for several movie awards.

"Oppenheimer," like the other mentioned film, is focused on the titular character, theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. More importantly, it follows the part of his life where he participates in The Manhattan Project.

The film tells the story of the major role that Oppenheimer played in the second world war, and how his invention turned the tide of the conflict. Played by Cillian Murphy, the movie received a lot of praise from viewers in both story and acting.

No one knows how one can combine the movies seeing as "Oppenheimer" had darker themes that explored the creation of the atomic bomb and the disaster it brought, while "Barbie" was more upbeat with self-realization and dance numbers.
