Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update: Why It’s Worth Starting a New Playthrough

The latest update for Cyberpunk 2077 rolled out recently, and it has brought several major overhauls that are enough to make it feel like a new gaming experience. Here are some changes that would encourage you to start a new playthrough before Phantom Liberty drops.

The NPCs Will Be More Reactive

Around the time when the developers were done patching some major bugs, the NPCs were merely for show. Sure, they would panic when you go on a rampage, but there are times when they would not react accordingly.

For instance, they would sometimes run in front of your vehicle as you ram through fences and light posts, which leads to you getting a wanted level. Now, they will avoid doing exactly that. They might even fight back when you try to steal their vehicles as opposed to cowering in the street.

Plus, the NPCs are now scaled to your level, so you won't have to put off certain missions and try to level up by doing side missions first. Some of them have low, medium, or high armor, which means you'll have to be prepared by "chippin' in" better cyberware.

Better Police System

The police in Night City are lacking when it comes to chasing down a perp. When you get s star for your wanted level, all you have to do is drive away and avoid any cops to lose your trail. The update makes it harder for you to run from the law.

Even when you do try to escape, the NCPD will start chasing you, whether it's on foot or by car. However, the developers still haven't fixed the fact that entering any private establishment removes your wanted level, but perhaps that's for the best.

The pursuit and behavior will depend on how many stars you have on your level. It's not just MaxTac swarming in on you anymore. Instead, you'll have AVs chasing you down as well and roadblocks will be set up to prevent you from escaping.

Instead of the casual cops in corners, the NCPD will start patrolling the streets. The good news is, you can start performing quickhacks on officers. And, like any smart criminal, you'll be able to listen in on NCPD radio chatter through your vehicle's radio.

Overhauled Cyberware

Clothes no longer have the system they did before. Now, armor and other perks can be found on cyberware. That means that clothes will no longer have mod slots and will mainly be cosmetic. You can upgrade certain aspects through the ripperdoc screen.

There are still things you'll need to visit the ripperdoc for, and you'll want to. There are now additional animations for certain installations for cyberware. You'll actually be on a chair and different scenarios will play out depending on the implant.

Cooler Vehicle Actions

Cars can now have their own weapons, which means that car chases will be much more epic. Cyberpunk 2077's new perk system allows you to obtain certain skills like jumping out of the vehicle at full speed or activating your Sandevistan while driving.

You can use your weapons while driving now on top of the firepower you have mounted on your vehicle. You can also use melee weapons like blades, but you can only do so on motorcycles. During a chase, you can quickhack your enemy's vehicle to sabotage it.
