Forbes AI Search Powered by Google Cloud

The AI search engine, called Adelaide, is reportedly equipped with Google Cloud. Adelaide was named after the wife of Forbes' founder, B.C. Forbes. The launch of this AI tool marked a milestone between trusted journalism and generative AI.

The publication giant is not a newbie when it comes to AI. In 2019, Forbes launched its AI-based tool called Bertie which guided its journalists about their writing style. On the contrary, Adelaide is made for readers and will eventually be available to over 150 million Forbes readers.

Google Cloud and Forbes forged their partnership last 2018 with the primary goal of transforming the publication's digital landscape. Since then, Google Cloud has been a critical partner of the publication when it comes to AI integration. "As we look to the future, we are enabling our audiences to better understand how AI can be a tool for good and enhance their lives," Forbes chief digital and information officer Vadim Supitskiy stated.

Using the new feature, readers can ask Adelaide general and specific questions in order to generate a suggestion list of articles. In addition, it also comes with a summarized answer as long as it is within Forbes' scope. According to the magazine, its AI is trained to cover Forbes stories within the past 12 months.

Forbes also shared that the publication has set the goal of increasing engagement using searches and stories. "Engagement with search has been pretty standard for us, so we thought it would be a good opportunity to innovate using generative AI and boost the number of users that look for information," Supitskiy shared with The Verge

Forbes readers have still a lot to expect from Adelaide as the publication confirmed that they are still working to improve its service. In the following months, readers might get more personalized and contextual conversations with the AI search engine.
