The Galaxy S23 is Getting AI Features

The latest phone from Samsung's S Series flagship lineup is the Galaxy S24, but that doesn't mean that the previous model won't be getting attention from the tech giant. Samsung announced that the S23, along with other models, will be receiving the AI upgrade.

The software update will be coming this March, and it will include functions like Chat Assist, Live Translate, and Interpreter, along with productivity features are also included such as Note Assist, Browsing Assist, and Transcript Assist, as reported by Engadget.

For image editing, older models will get generative AI features as well which include Generative Edit, Edit Suggestion, and Instant Slow-Mo. In more good news, Samsung might even extend these AI tools and services to other models.

Samsung President TM Roh said: "This is only the beginning of Galaxy AI, as we plan to bring the experience to over 100 million Galaxy users within 2024 and continue to innovate ways to harness the unlimited possibilities of mobile AI."

For now, the older models that will receive the update are the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9. It's unclear whether mid-range phones will be getting the features as well.

This serves as a convenient approach to the emergence of AI on smartphones, given that users won't have to purchase the latest flagships just so they can experience the functions that AI features have to offer.

Samsuing's Galaxy AI

We are beginning to see great progress in AI technology, especially in devices and systems that are accessible to more people. Samsung's Galaxy AI offers several tools that can put smartphones on a whole new level of assistive functions.

One is the Circle to Search feature, which allows you to select part of an image that will lead to Google search results. This can be done while watching videos or looking through images on social media as well. All you need to do is encircle the subject with your finger or S Pen.

Live Translate offers real-time translations to break down language barriers for users. You can turn the feature on by opening your dial pad, going to Settings, and enabling Live Translate. By tapping Call Assist, whatever you say will automatically be translated into a language of your choosing.

Note and Chat Assist will perform as a chatbot would, allowing you to summarize notes, as well as ask for assistance. It can help you draft writings that would sound more professional, or be more fitting for social media captions.

One of the best Galaxy AI features comes in image editing, where users will be able to relocate objects, and the AI will immediately fill in the space where the object used to be. You can even take photos with up to 10x zoom without sacrificing image quality.
