Helldivers 2 Devs Clap Back at Players Who Criticized the Recent Patch

Helldivers 2 is still a hot topic on social media despite being released a month ago, and has gained more attention after its latest updates. Players aren't exactly happy about the changes, and the game's devs decided to respond to the negative feedback.

Studio Devs Addresses Complaints

The patch was issued on March 6th, adding a lot of changes that made the multiplayer game a more challenging endeavor. From adding elements that would kill players faster to nerfing and buffing certain weapons, a lot of players did not hold back when expressing their disappointment.

Negative feedback toward Helldivers 2's updates can be seen across social forums like Reddit and Discord servers, and Arrowhead Game Studios staff decided to respond snarkily and even sarcastically, with one even saying: "Man watching u all cry, amuses me so much," as mentioned in Kotaku.

The studio's animator Fredrik Eriksson pointed out that people are still clearing Helldive, and that he is not sure what to say regarding the issue, but the "skill issue" comes to mind, implying that the people behind the complaints were simply not good enough to overcome the challenges.

Not everyone in Arrowhead Games Studio had the same attitude toward players who expressed their dissatisfaction over the changes. In fact, the company's CEO Johan Pilestedt was more vexed by the devs' response to the complaints.

Pilestedt expressed that he was "extremely disappointed" with how the devs responded, clarifying that the comments do not represent the studio. "While I understand that it reflects on the studio as a whole, it is not our intention that this should be the behavior from us."

With the feedback the patch received, the Arrowhead Games CEO said that they are actively reading as much as they could and take them into consideration internally. "Right now, the hot topic is your guys' feedback and response to the balance adjustments."

Helldivers 2 Patch Notes

The Helldivers 2 patch came with both changes in the game and patches for previous bugs. The major changes include new Planetary Hazards, wherein players might encounter fire tornadoes and meteor showers while they are deployed, all of which will appear at random.

As for Eradicate missions, players will have to accomplish more kills and enemies will spawn more often. With those added factors, the mission will now take twice as long to complete, leaving less spare time until extraction.

Weapons have also been nerfed, with the Breaker's magazine capacity dropping from 16 to 13, and the recoil increasing from 30 to 55. The Railgun also has a decreased armor penetration when in Safe Mode, and has decreased damage against durable enemy parts.

On the bright side, the flamethrower has been buffed and will now have 50% more damage per second. The same goes for the Laser Cannon which now has increased damage against durable enemy parts, armor penetration, and better ergonomics.

The Punisher's total ammo capacity has gone up to 60 from 40, with an increased stagger force and damage from 40 to 45 per bullet. The Breaker Spray & Pray has better armor penetration with an increased fire rate from 300 to 330, and more pellets per shot from 12 to 16.
