Steam Patent Reveals Possible Reward System

As per the new patent filed by Steam, there is a chance that users will be soon allowed to reap rewards through the Discovery Queue. The patent showed an Incentive, Content, and Bonus item as determination components which suggests that Steam could establish a list of suggestions for users and associate a reward with it.

However, there is a possibility that the rewards would not be tied to a game. The patent stated that only a particular content category might be incentivized.

This means that players might get rewards for exploring different genres like action, survival, and more. The items will also be personalized so there are factors whether it will be offered to a user or not.

Steam's Discovery Queue Helps Developers

For years, the Discovery Queue has been nothing but useful for developers, especially for those who work independently or as part of smaller-scale projects. Through this tool, users can discover a list of games that they should try out, oftentimes they are curated based on their preferences.

Each user has its own personalized queue that Steam analyzes based on various factors such as the genre that has been played the most by the user, their wishlist, and more. Developers have been using it as a strategy to promote their games for free using the Discovery Queue.

The rumored feature will be an impressive upgrade that will benefit both developers and players. The rewards will most likely attract more users to use the feature, giving the developers more chances to expose their games on Steam.
