SNL Records 8.9 Million Views on One Episode

The record-breaking episode reached its all-time high based on its seven-day viewership across all platforms. On the night of the broadcast, the show recorded 1.7 million viewers.

The data was based on the number of people who tuned in on NBC and those who streamed the show afterward on Peacock. Gosling's appearance now holds the highest seven-day viewership for "SNL" which was previously done by Billie Eilish as the host and musical guest.

According to the restings, the show was popular among adults aged 18 to 49. The episode also marked the show's best performance since Dave Chapelle and Foo Fighter's guesting last November 2022.

Gosling Impresses SNL Audience With Sketch

The episode's success is mainly attributed to the "Beavis and Butt-Head" sketch where Gosling had a prosthetic nose and tall, bright blonde hair. He played Beavis which was set in a faux NewsNation townhall.

The actor was also joined by "SNL" regulars Heidi Gardner, Chloe Fineman, and Mikey Day who both struggled to fight their laughter during the comedic chaos. The sketch quickly became a viral sensation and managed to get laughs on the internet.

"SNL" is one of the longest-running live television shows in the U.S. which started its first episode in 1975. The show regularly invites celebrities and public personalities as hosts or musical guests.

NBCUniversal is continuously promoting and expanding Peacock's streaming catalog which includes the episodes from "SNL."
