Verizon HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 update confirmed, coming soon

HTC One M8 owners on Verizon Wireless' network are in for some good news, as the handset will receive an update to Android 4.4.3 KitKat in September.

Verizon is notorious for delivering updates rather late due to its rigorous testing process, but the Android 4.4.3 upgrade for the HTC One M8 will not take much longer.

The HTC One M8 is one of the most popular handsets currently available on the market, boasting top-notch specs and features all around, all wrapped up in a highly-acclaimed design made of premium materials. In terms of software, however, the Verizon version of the smartphone still hasn't gone past the Android 4.4.3 build, but that's all about to change.

HTC America's President Jason Mackenzie, as well as Product Management Vice President Mo Versi, both announced in separate tweets that the Verizon HTC One M8 is on track to receive Android 4.4.3 KitKat in September. No specific rollout date is available at this point, but it shouldn't be too long now.

More specifically, Mo Versi said the update should arrive in early September, while Mackenzie reckoned that it should roll out by mid-September. With Android 4.4.4 already out and Android L expected to formally debut soon, pushing Android 4.4.3 to the Verizon HTC One M8 really makes sense.

The new OS version will bring plenty of neat enhancements to the table, but one of the highlights is the Extreme Power Saving Mode (EPS), which will help conserve the handset's battery life.

For those unfamiliar with this feature, EPS is a special mode that enables various power-saving measures in order to make the smartphone last as long as possible until the next charge. This means that it will shut down data and other non-essential commodities in order to save battery. The HTC One M8 was supposed to launch with this Extreme Power Saving mode on board, but at least it will get it now with the new Android 4.4.3 update.

With September just around the corner, the Verizon HTC One M8 will get the tasty Android treat very soon. We'll keep you up to date as soon as a specific rollout date becomes available for the update, so stay tuned.
