'Doom' News, Updates, Reviews: Reboot Version Retraces Roots; 'Doom' Dominates The Frontlines

In terms of prowess and strength, the "Doom" game has dominated the frontlines. Recent news and updates regarding the new and rebooted version of "Doom" showcases the game retracing its roots and at the same time wants to become the dominant game at the frontlines.

To make a rebooted version of one of the most iconic games in gaming history is a tough act, especially if the original was released at the same time as the forerunner to the first-person "Wolfenstein" 3D. And since "Wolfenstein" got an amazing reboot, all eyes were on id Software to come up with a worthy successor to its 1992 classic, "Doom," according to The Hindu.

The game is all about journey. The 1992 version depicts the unnamed space marine who escapes a mysterious imprisonment to find the United Aerospace Corporation facility on Mars overrun by demons, and the humans are willing to use anything to gain energy. They have been harnessing demonic power back on Earth, as noted by the same post. Moreover, in terms of features and stunning advancements, "Doom" was able to surpass its shortcomings. To prove the latter, "Doom" gets away with this approach because it is so wonderfully self-aware and it does not need to be "Doom 4," because who gives a stuff about continuity when the crux of the story is to "eradicate demons on Mars in the most gruesome ways possible," reports Finder.

Although a large chunk of the pre-release hype focused on the multiplayer component of "Doom," the single-player campaign is truly its strongest mode. It is because "Doom" casts aside what appeared to be the start of a multi-game arch suggested at the ending of 2004's "Doom 3" with a new tale that acts as little more than to streamline the gorefest, as reported by the same post.

It is undeniable that the recent news and updates pertaining to the new rebooted version of "Doom" is a standout on its own. With its aim to dominate the frontlines, it remains uncertain on how the gamers would perceive the new version of "Doom."
