'Street Fighter V': Story Mode Will Not Be Released Until End Of June

Capcom has revealed that "Street Fighter V's" story mode and new DLC character, Ibuki, will not be available until the end of June.

Fans were excited when Capcom released screenshots featuring "Street Fighter V's" latest addition to the fighters' roster. The Capcom Unity blog has announced the return of the kunoichi character but did not detail any information about when the DLC character would be available.

The game company has originally targeted Ibuki to be released towards the end of May or beginning of June but were not able to fulfill the goal due to "unforeseen delays".

The announcement has sparked fury amongst the "Street Fighter" fanbase, who have taken to slamming Capcom for not giving out information until the last minute. Promising to be more communicative moving forward, the company said that June will be a huge month for the game. "We'll have a blog with more info surrounding the June content and other topics the community has brought up in the next day or so," Capcom said in another Twitter post.

The game has suffered a lot of delays since it was launched in February, with Capcom delaying its paid download store, along with its first DLC character, Alex, and moving the release date from March to April, Ars Technica reported.

Capcom's CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto has acknowledged that the latest "Street Fighter" game underperformed when it was released, selling only 1.4 million copies on both PC and Playstation 4, Gamespot reported previously. Tsujimoto pointed out the game's "lack of content" and said that it "needed more polish".

The Capcom CEO also said during the company's earnings report that "Street Fighter V" could have benefitted from a longer development time. "It's best to spend a little more time in developing and running a high-quality title that will perform well globally," Tsujimoto said.
