iOS 10 News & Updates: Should You Upgrade? What You Need To Know

It is no secret that Apple will be releasing an improved operating system later this year. In fact, the company has already released three rounds of beta testing for developers since the recent WWDC. The iOS 10 will bring a wide range of new features and new looks to the Apple series.

As 9 to 5 Mac recalls, the first iOS10 beta was released at WWDC, with the second following on July 5th. Now, the third testing has shown further improvements in terms of visual aspects and functional features.

The most visual updates come to Apple News and Apple Music, as these apps have received a redesign. There have also been alterations made to the Lock Screen and Home Screen. Further, there have also been updates to iMessage features.

Tech Crunch weighs in that there are four major themes in the iOS 10 changes. The first is the extension of some current features. For example, third-party developers can now work on Siri extensions. That is, users can now request for rides or send messages via other messaging platforms with help from the virtual assistant. Maps has also been extended to accommodate restaurant suggestions.

The next is that the iOS 10 makes Apple products smarter. For example, the Photo app automatically makes albums based on location and face recognition. The keyboard predictor is also much better now, as even emojis can be predicted via the words in the messages.

The third is the messaging, with Apple not just updating iMessages, but virtually creating a substitute altogether. Links can be previewed within iMessages now and there is a photo picker feature. That is, photos can be accessed straight from the keyboard, without the hassle of opening an entirely new menu.

Beta is a testing ground. It is not meant for the everyday person and should definitely not be tested on a primary phone. Things could get lost and/or broken, so the warning is there.
