Pokemon Go' Updates: Niantic Increases Game’s Presence In Asia Except China And India

"Pokemon Go" is now rolling out across 15 new Asian and Oceania countries and territories. However, the biggest Asian countries like China and India are not among them.

Most of the countries in the Southeast Asian regions are included namely, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Only Myanmar and Timor Leste were not included.

Meanwhile, countries in Oceania like Micronesia, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Fiji are now part of the "Pokemon Go" community. Even Taiwan has been included by Niantic.

Surprisingly, the two biggest and most populous Asian countries have not been included in the latest "Pokemon Go" Asian expansion. South Korea has also been excluded. No official explanation has been forwarded by Niantic but Pundits have already voiced out their opinions on the matter.

Indians are snapping smartphones as fast as they can. India's population of more than a billion strong is a huge market for Niantic. But it seems the developer is in no hurry to send "Pokemon Go" there. Observers believe that the huge potential player base in India is also its biggest drawback. Their large size would probably be too much for Niantic's servers.

China is also a huge market that Niantic should find hard to resist. The millions of Chinese gamers playing the imitation versions of "Pokemon Go" easily outnumber all the other players of the original Niantic version.

Some Chinese players have even managed to play the real "Pokemon Go" only by cheating about their location thru GPS spoofing. However, the Chinese bureaucratic red tape and state security concerns have made it almost impossible for Niantic to introduce "Pokemon Go" to the country."

Meanwhile, South Korea, is a country where "Pokemon Go" is only allowed in small and isolated parts of the country. South Korea still shares a border with North Korea which is one of the most heavily fortified places on Earth. "Pokemon Go" players may accidentally start a shooting war between the two countries if they start looking for Pokemon creatures in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).
