'No Man's Sky' Update: Why Steam Will Not Refund Your Copy Starting Today

PC players, just when you thought it was safe to go out into the waters, I mean to get back on what you spent on No Man's Sky, Steam then posts a big policy thing on No Man's Sky purchase page.

No Man's Sky had impressive sales on the PC and PlayStation 4 when the month started but it marked the start of a roller coaster ride - majority of the players are unhappy. The vast number of unsatisfied gamers led to a mass refund as predicted by Sean Murra, Hello Games founder, that No Man's Sky isn't for everyone. While the game still has supporters, including myself quoting: 'No Man's Sky is receiving too much hate it doesn't deserve.', it would seem that the majority of the players have been seeking refunds.

It seems that, yesterday, Steam had a counter-measure on the huge influx on refund request, putting a huge notice on the game's main page saying: "The standard Steam refund policy applies to No Man's Sky. There are no special exemptions available. Click here for more detail on the Steam refund policy."

As reported by GameRant.com, the policy change is caused by reports that was all over the weekend concerning major retailers Sony, Amazon and including Steam itself had been rolling out refunds to dissatisfied players. During the weekend, it seems that refunds were given regardless of the game's play-time spent - this is against Steam's official return policy. Steam does not refunds to games if it has been played for 2 hours or it has been longer than 14 days since purchase. As stated, it seems that the policy post on the purchase page is Steam's on way of avoiding other players into jumping in the refund bandwagon.

On top of this, it was reported that 90% of active players have dropped last week. This is way too much turn of events considering that it was really hyped up during pre-release. It even had impressive pre-order sales.

How about you? Did you get your game refunded? Was it successful? Feel free to use the comment section below.
