What Could Save Apple: The iPhone 7's Necessary Innovations

In the weeks leading up to Apple's September event, there was plenty of press surrounding the iPhone 7 release. Whether negative or positive, the device was definitely talked about. And yet, the lack in upgrades and developments from the existing iPhone 6S led many to scoff and sigh. What innovations could have pushed the iPhone 7 to be better received?

Reported Rumours

As USA Today notes, it is widely accepted that the iPhone 7 Pro/iPhone 7 Plus will sport dual cameras. This will definitely improve the camera quality of the unit, as the cameras will each take a photo simultaneously before these photos are merged into one.

Another thing is that the iPhone 7 will bid adieu to the standard 3.5mm audio jack in preference for a Lightning connector or wireless headphones, which connect via Bluetooth. This change will definitely make the device more waterproof, which is also said to be a priority for Apple.

Ideal Additions

It has not gotten much air time, but it would be great for Apple to improve on the battery for the iPhone 7. Not just in terms of strength, but also in terms of durability. The battery life of Apple devices are unstable, so fixing this issue should definitely a priority.

Another thing that would make the iPhone 7 more appealing is if Apple loosened up on its exclusivity. For example, the option to delete applications that come preinstalled in the unit - especially because Apple does not let users easily hide unwanted icons.

It is no secret that Apple's storage options leave very little to the imagination. Apple, unlike most Android devices, does not let users increase the internal storage of a handheld via a microSD card. Thereby, it is paramount for the Cupertino-based company to provide larger storage options - hopefully without much of a price increase.
