Apple Shows Off iPhone 7's 'Console-level' Gaming Capability

As technology often pushes itself beyond limits, we are getting better and better gadgets each turn of the year. One of the speculated technological breakthrough, specifically for gamers, would be for a Phone or any similar device to have the processing power of video game consoles. Imagine putting your PS4 Pro or Xbox One inside your pocket, bringing it with you everywhere you go. So even a visit at your parent's house or some house that you find boring wouldn't be anymore since you can plug in your phone to a large TV, pair it with a controller and play AAA games on it.

This vision is not far from happening as  Apple VP Phil Schiller spoke about the revolutionary chip the company have been designing and it is now deployed to their latest flagship, the iPhone 7. This new chip allows users to have their mobile gaming feel at a console level, Polygon reports.

Named as the 'A10 Fusion', Schiller described as the most capable and powerful Graphics Processing Unit ever to be used inside an iPhone. GPU ever used on an iPhone to date. The said processing unit allows the iPhone to work at amazing speeds that it couldn't do before. Schiller even invited the developers  of Oz: Broken Kingdom on stage to showcase the game in action. According to the stage guests, there is a huge noticeable difference between playing the said game on regular but latest mobile devices versus on the latest iPhone 7 models.

It is also confirmed that another title, F1 2016, would be available for the  iPhone 7, Schiller adds. The powerful A10 Fusion (not to be confused with AMD's A10 processor), is said to be properly architected with advanced video gaming and playback in mind, which results in a major performance boost. That said, the upcoming Super Mario Run and the current Pokemon Go will even run at a better speed compared to using other mobile devices. The previous iPhone model only ran with the A9 chip.

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will soon hit stores for pre-order on Sept. 9 and will cost $679 and $749 respectively.
