Xperia XZ, Xperia X Compact US Release Date And Prices Announced

Sony has just announced the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact for the United States. The Sony Xperia XZ has been enjoying some popularity in some territories and now it will be available in the U.S. along with the Xperia X Compact.

Days after the Sony Xperia XZ pre-orders was declared sold out in Taiwan, Sony announced that the new flagship phone will be coming over to the U.S. on October 2. Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia X Compact will be released on September 25.

The Sony Xperia X Compact will be $499.99 while the Xperia XZ will be priced at $699.99, according to Phone Arena. The two smartphones will work with GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile. Both Sony phones will also be sold at retail stores such as Amazon and Best Buy, among others.

The Sony Xperia XZ will likely have pre-orders as well as the Xperia X Compact. It is just not clear what would come with the pre-orders. Taiwan's pre-orders of the Xperia XZ has been successful in part because of the freebies that came along with it.

The Sony Xperia XZ will be replacing the Xperia X Performance as Sony's flagship phone, GSM Arena reports. It has a Snapdragon 820 for its processor and 32 GB for internal storage and 3 GB of RAM. In addition, the Sony Xperia XZ has a 23 MP rear camera and 13 MP front camera. It's screen size stands at 5.2 inches.

Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia X Compact is almost identical to the Xperia XZ in terms of specs, but will be much smaller with a 4.6-inch screen. It will also have a different processor, specifically the Snapdragon 650.

Both smartphones have IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. The U.S. versions though will not have fingerprint scanners. Both smartphones run Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS.
