Skyrim Special Edition PC System Requirements, Release Date; And More

Recently, Bethesda gaming studios revealed that they will be releasing a remastered version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. On October 10, 2016, Bethesda announced that the initial development of the game is complete and that the game is on its way to get published. Bethesda also announced technical details about Skyrim: Special Edition on PC and Console.

Skyrim: Special Edition will be available on PS4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. Meanwhile, it will not be available on Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U. Bethesda confirms that if a player owns a PC version of Skyrim and all its addons on steam which are Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn, he will be able to get a free upgrade to Skyrim: Special Edition when it arrives this year. (Discounts on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and on its add-ons are currently being offered by Steam) However, the special edition version of Skyrim has PC system requirements.

  • OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit)
  • CPU: Intel i5-750/AMD Phenom II X4-945
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • HDD: 12 GB free space
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 470 1 GB/AMD HD 7870 2 GB

Other than the PC system requirements, Bethesda also shared the file sizes for Xbox One and PS4. They also explained that the file sizes for the consoles are much larger compared to the PC, especially in Europe because of the need to add more languages.

PS4

  • 20 GB (North America)
  • 33 GB (Europe)

Xbox One

  • 17 GB (North America)
  • 25 GB (Europe)

The confirmed release date for PS4, Xbox one and PC will be on October 28, 2016.
