The month of Oct. 2016 is seen to be the epicenter for major PC and Console events. With the release of the PlayStation VR and 13 new game titles, the UK top game list has been shaken from the very core resulting in various shifts. Lately, there have been a lot of ups and downs from the UK Chart list over the past few days but it seems to have finally stabilized. Now, we'll see who rules over the gaming chart in the UK. Here is the list for the Top 10 games for the month of October (note* the week ends at October 15).
1. FIFA 17, Publisher: EA Sports
It's didn't come to a shock how FIFA 17 swiftly dominated the charts especially with its groundbreaking week long sales. In just days following its release (September 27), the association football game has already reached the number 1 spot for the UK Top list. Now after 3 weeks on the list and with the threat of VR games swelling, it seems that the football game is yet to be fazed as it still sits at the number 1 spot.
2. Gears of War 4, Publisher: Microsoft Studios
Microsoft's third-person shooter has not ceased to amaze the tons of fans all over the world. The latest of the GoW franchise was released on October 11. Will Gears of War 4 be able to defend its spot after a week of its debut? Check it out on our next update!
3. Mafia 3, Publisher: 2K Games
Arguably the hottest action-adventure video game for the month of October, 2K Games' Mafia 3 has been the center for talks as of late. The first issue that the game encountered was the intended FPS lock for its PC edition that resulted in a major backlash. The next Mafia 3 issue was the Irish unionists requesting for its immediate sale withdrawal in their respective area. But with all the issues surrounding the game, it seems that the gangster open-world hype is yet to be tarnished.
4. WWE 2K17, Publisher: 2K Games
Another of 2K Games have made it into the top list and this time, it's the highly anticipated professional wresting video game. This was released at the same time with Microsoft's Gears of War 4. After a brief scuffled, WWE 2K17 was fallen off short and is now sitting at the number 4 of current list.
5. Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Edition, Publisher: Square Enix
A lot of speculations have surrounded about ROTTR's return to the PlayStation console and how it's a bold move from Square Enix considering that it was already a year late for the PS fans. But it turned out that the move was met with favorable acclaimed from both critics and diehard fans of the franchise. We' shall see though how Lara Croft will defend her throne in the following weeks to come.
6. Forza Horizon 3, Publisher: Microsoft Studios
The latest open-world racing game was met with critical acclaim by both critics and fans with Trusted Reviewers scoring it at a perfect 10/10. The launching of Forza Horizon 3 is pretty much commendable to the fact that it was released on the same date as the FIFA 17.
7. PlayStation VR Worlds, Publisher: Sony
According to an IGN reviewer: "PlayStation VR Worlds seems like the demo disc that should've been included with the PlayStation VR. Some of its five bundled games are great demonstrations of what the PlayStation VR can do, but the others are throwaways that I'll quickly forget I played." This just show how the PSVR hype train has shook the virtual world.
8. Skylanders Imaginators, Publisher: Activision
One of the major contributors to the success of this game, aside from the fact that it's fun and engaging, is that it has support across all former and current platforms namely: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U. It's one of the typical strategies of Activision to contend with other big titles.
9. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, Publisher: Sony
Another passenger of the PSVR hype train is Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. It's one of those games that maximizes the use of the headset VR but is nothing in comparison to big titles such as Resident Evil 7 or Outlast 2.
10. Rocket League, Publisher: 505 Games
One of the longest sitting chart toppers is 505 Games' vehicular soccer game. For almost 3 months, Rocket League has been sitting around the top 5 spot until the release of the PSVR which brought it down to its current number 10 spot.
